Our Easter Day

I made this Centerpiece to match my spring dishes, complete with the chocolate bunny (yum)

Of course no Easter celebration is complete without going to church first.  The best part about our Sacrament mtg was the primary children singing "I wonder When He Comes Again"    I was disappointed that there was no chocolate passed out in any of my classes but we made up for it later.   Everyone helped with dinner which was so nice.  We had chicken fried steak with gravy and mashed potatoes.  Sort of a different meal for us.  Rhyll completed our day with homemade Strawberrry short cake.

Allison and Scott,  the perfect couple (at least we think so.)

New Easter dresses,  I made mine.....amazing I know.....the shoes are the best part.  Look at those modest girls....so cute!

Nephi and Easter looking tall and gorgeous

notice the ketchup is the main focus...go figure?
After dinner Scott hid a ton of plastic eggs stuffed with money and candy in our front yard and even in spite of the rain (which I am still ticked about) we had an egg hunt.  Scottee didn't really get the point of the whole Easter thing until he discovered the money in some of the eggs and then he was all for it.  He commented that "Easter is kind of like an Christian Halloween"  Someday I might explain the Atonement to him (again).

Our place settings had individual birds nests with jelly bean eggs in them which Rhyll tried to eat before dinner.

After the egg hunt we competed in an EGG-TREME SPORT competition.  The prizes where chocolate bunnies and we used about 6 dozen hard boiled dyed eggs which are now smashed all over our back yard.....The critters back there are having a potluck tonight.
Esther didn't win anything in the games but she found the $10 bill in the egg hunt (lucky girl)
Nephi won the longest throw by hitting a tree on the island in the lake thrown from the top deck...wow, I'm impressed.
Kailey tied Nephi for most eggs in the egg hunt and got best time in the egg balancing competition.
Scottee won a chocolate bunny for landing a hard boiled egg in a bucket down by the fire pit thrown from the top deck.

The new me!

Okay, so I am starting to have this gray hair problem that is just enough to make my hair look dull and mousey (is that a word?)  So I decided to go a bit bolder than usual, and do my own bit of reddish, medium, brown.  I was a little freaked out because it turned out so dark.  People say that they love it and the color is really beautiful.  However, when I look in the mirror I am not sure if it is really me looking back or not.  I think this might be my new identity.  Maybe I will be 'lush'  (Kaileys phrase for hot) from here on out.  What do you think?

this pic says nice hair, pretty eyes, get your teeth whitened..ouch!

Saturday is a special day

It is actually spring somewhere
In an ideal world my family would keep the Sabbath Day Holy by waking up to a clean house with the Mo tabs CD softly playing in the back ground,  we would wander in for a leisuely breakfast of healthy fruits and whole grain muffins, a little OJ or hot chocolate, everyone would be dressed in not just 'sunday best'  but 'sunday best' according to Mom's standard, and of course a few minutes early so we can all leave for church together, happy and arriving early to take our favorite spot on the back row (my family has really long legs) and quietly listen to the prelude music.  Of course my ideal would be a delicious dinner quickly ready upon arriving home,  the children (bless their little hearts) offer to not only do the dishes but clean up the kitchen, pushing the dinning room chairs in and properly putting the food away (don't laugh this is my dream day remember)  then we take naps, write in our journals and go for long walks,  our home teacher doesn't have time to visit he just drops off brownies which we devour with milk while we watch an old Disney movie, have family scripture time and Family prayer.  The pleasant day ends with hugs and kisses all around and sweet dreams to send us to a good nights sleep all ready for a new week, having a day where we worshipped and remembered the Savior.
My actual idea of a perfect day!
Ah,  that would actually make me look forward to Sunday.  In my real life we are not really that far off,  okay maybe a bit more than that  but occasionally I do a bang up job on Saturday to be ready.  I discovered years ago that it takes two days to keep the Sabbath day holy and if I get the house in order, clothes prepared and dinner made our day goes really well.  I am not ignorant to the fact that their are many personalities to deal with andonly one bad attitude could throw a wrench in the day.  However,  I truly believe that we get heavenly points for trying.  Every single week trying for the ideal!  I think I might do it this week.  Thats about 7 points for me this year.  How are you doing?

Be Still and know that I am God!

I recently made a wall plaque for my Aunt.  It says the name God and then across the big letters it says "Be still and know that I am".   while I was making it I was thinking "When I actually grow all the way up I want to be like God, My Heavenly Father".  I think that one of the secrets of doing this is in the words of this plaque; BE STILL,  taking time everyday to not be a part of the business of this world and be with the spirit.  Quiet time helps you to learn the language of the spirit. --- KNOW THAT I AM,  I think that giving your trust to God and truly believing that He knows the whole game plan, the big picture, and that you and your happiness really is His main objective is very hard to do but frees you in a way that you can move forward and develop the Divine Nature within you.   At Least this is how I feel  and this is my hope.

Another wreath....I think I am hooked!

...Kimmie sent me the idea with a tutorial from UCREATE.blogspot.com   Of course I had to try it and this is my creation.  It is for my sister, Kailyn, who I know loves the things I make and even if she has no place to put it she will gush over it and that is so fun for me.       So HAPPY BIRTHDAY KAILYN!  So glad you were born!
